The Scientific Committee and Scientific
Program of NATO on non-military cooperation were established in 1958. The
features of the program are focus on cooperating in scientific activities, supporting
high qualitative level of science and enabling to absorb instantly new trends.
From the beginning of the 1990's, the Scientific Program of NATO became oriented
to broaden the geography of countries- partners. At present, the Scientific
Program of NATO is aimed at cooperating between the scientists from countries-partners
and the scientists from NATO countries. It is subdivided into four subprograms:
scientific grants, the cooperation in the field of science and engineering,
the support for research infrastructure, science for peace.
